The Tower & The High Priestess – Calm amid chaos

Today, the energy is a bit like the Disaster Girls meme.
The tower, the chaos depicted. The collapse of systems. The disappearance of the familiar and the destruction of things that are not good for us. Add to that the High Priestess, the embodiment of calm and serenity. Whatever happens today: make some popcorn, sit back and wait.
The destruction of the tower is an exciting moment. Similar to the rune Hagalaz, the hailstorm, it embodies a sudden collapse. I have written about the tower many times, so you probably know that this card does not represent anything bad. The upheaval and change come so suddenly that it can feel like a shock at first. But on closer inspection, we realise: „Oops, that was a good thing.“ Sometimes it takes a big bang for us to realise how broken something already was.
I have often written to you that the tower is about the wrong or porous substance. A solid stone building that towers massively into the sky cannot simply be destroyed by lightning. A stable foundation and good basic substance can withstand any storm. The tower can symbolise anything: relationships, jobs, material goods, simply everything. It shows us the rust hidden in our car that is slowly bringing us closer to the road. It shows us members of our team who are cheating their way through. But it can also reveal stagnant relationships. Perhaps it is about a friend who speaks badly behind your back. The tower can be anything that is not secure or stable.
But today we are Disaster Girl, because the High Priestess watches calmly. She is calm and silent. But she is present. She perceives everything around her. A small spark from the universe is just as noticeable to her as a burning house. She does not judge, but first takes in this information. She senses the contrasts, knows the cycles and the balance. The High Priestess knows that when something is destroyed, there is room for something new. But some gaps do not need to be filled with something new; instead, they offer space for other things to develop fully.
Even if both cards come from the Major Arcana, it doesn’t always have to mean something big. Sometimes these tower moments are also minor in nature. A favourite item of clothing suddenly wears out – time to part with it. A piece of jewellery breaks – perhaps the memory it carries has served its purpose. A hair colour doesn’t turn out as intended – finally a change of style.
If something goes wrong today, feel free to ask yourself why. But don’t take it too seriously. Take it calmly and with composure. Look at why something happened, and you may recognise some weak spots. Observe, listen and simply take in what is happening. Even if it directly affects your life, put yourself in the role of the camera for a moment and just watch. You will see that it will help.
