A beginning – and two women who accompany him

If you were wondering where I was: I never left, but things just got a little too busy. A lot has happened in the last few weeks. Change is necessary for us to evolve, but let’s be honest, change is exhausting. I simply didn’t have the energy to write any more posts, and I don’t think any post would have made much sense anyway. Every text would probably have been so full of my emotions that you simply wouldn’t have been able to relate to it. So I left it. But now I’m back and happy to be able to write this post for you.
Maybe you felt the same way I did this morning: get up, get ready, put on a thick sweater (we were so used to it during the last few weeks of rain), go outside, and sweat. I was so surprised when I looked up and saw that the sky was bright blue and the sun’s rays were touching my skin. My first thought was, “How awesome is that?” It’s just so nice to finally see the sun again after weeks of gray skies and wet feet. I was immediately inspired. Coffee, tarot cards, cell phone, and tripod in hand, I headed out to the garden to draw the cards for the current week. It’s amazing what a small change in the weather can do to us.
Somehow, it was fitting that the first card after the break was the Empress. This card is my birth card (you probably can’t read it anymore). She is the mother of the tarot deck. Full of power, she sits on her throne, surrounded by forest and ripe grain. This woman is the life and energy that brings our ideas to reality. Personally, I have a very big idea growing right now. The publication of my first short story has left an echo. I can’t reveal much at the moment, but stay tuned, something big is coming.
The Empress invites you to take a seat next to her. She wants you to feel the life that is growing and thriving around you. Can you hear the wind caressing the full heads of grain? Can you feel the buzzing of the bees flying from flower to flower? There is also a rustling in the forest behind you, and the singing of the birds brightens the air. The sun shines warmly down on you and you feel something growing inside you. What thought is coming up right now? Can you feel it? Can you perhaps name it? What is coming and wants to be heard, felt, and seen?
With a friendly nod, the Empress invites you to give this thought space. You can let it grow until you can almost grasp it. It is time to put an idea into action.
Often, we stand in our own way in such moments. We get caught up in plans, lists and possibilities. I am usually so inspired by an idea that I could start at a thousand different ends, and then I get caught up in plans, notes and thoughts, so that in the end nothing happens. But today that won’t happen, because another person joins the small garden party.
She comes with a cool breeze. Butterflies and swallows fly ahead of her, announcing her arrival. Across the cornfield, you can see the airy robes of the Queen of Swords. She is clarity, order and reason. This queen is tough but warm-hearted. Her mere appearance slows down the flood of thoughts. Calm returns to your head and your heart. ‘Where does your idea begin?’ The question floats gently through the air. ‘Look for the beginning, not the middle or the end.’ Her voice is gentle and you feel clarity rising within you.
‘Have you found it? Your beginning?’
The Queen of Swords is a strong woman. She urges us to follow our thoughts. It doesn’t matter what others think is better or right. It’s about us. At the same time, she slows down our emotions. Clarity comes from the mind, not the heart. There are moments when the butterflies of emotion simply get in the way and we need her sharp sword. Sit down and think about where it makes sense to start. Once you decide that, you can only move forward.
Don’t worry, the beginning you decide on today doesn’t have to be the same as tomorrow’s. Decisions don’t have to be set in stone, but sometimes they just have to be made. Based on the logic of the moment. If, in the course of your creative process, you realise that the beginning lies elsewhere, then start again. In the end, it’s the result that counts, but to get there, we have to start.
I’m going to dive into my project now, probably even losing track of time. Whatever you have planned for today, enjoy it and let your heart and mind work together. I wish you happy creating of your dreams and hope to see you again tomorrow. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. I look forward to an exchange.
