The High Priestess – The Silence Behind the Veil

Welcome to the Tarot Temple. You enter these ancient halls with awe. The path ahead of you is lined with columns. On one side they are black, on the other they are white. Your hand brushes against one of the smoothly polished columns and you realize that it is black obsidian. The candlelight from the chandeliers casts the colors of the rainbow across the white columns. The moonstone reflects it as magically as the full moon in the sky.

Slowly, you walk down the aisle toward the figure at the end. She is sitting on a chair. Without jewelry, without adornment. You hear only the echo of your footsteps, your breath, and the crackling of the candles. A gentle smoke rises from the bowl next to her. Delicate curls form in the air. Her eyes are closed, yet you feel as if she is looking directly into your soul. When you stand before her, you don’t know what to say. She says nothing either, and together you breathe in the silence of the temple.

For a long time, the High Priestess was a card that I simply couldn’t understand. Its meaning was clear to me, but compared to the others, it always remained silent. This card just lay there, silent and still. I often wondered what it wanted from me or what it wanted to tell me, and then, out of nowhere, I understood. It doesn’t want to tell me anything, but rather wants me to listen. So I closed my eyes and listened. I heard the silence just as she did and waited. When we don’t speak ourselves, we listen. We hear the sounds around us. We hear our thoughts, and sometimes we are lucky enough to hear the universe as well. Sometimes quiet and cryptic, sometimes loud and clear.

Now we stand together before her, and her silence envelops us. In the silence, you sense that there is so much more waiting behind the veil. So much is hidden in our world of the senses. The high priestess urges us to surrender to a single moment of silence. Are you ready to close your eyes and block out everything you hear and think for just one minute? Try it. One minute. No thoughts, no words. Just silence and the darkness behind your eyelids. You can try it for longer if you like, but increase the time slowly.

Through the teachings of the High Priestess, you open your mind. Over time, your thoughts will calm down and you will gain control. You will be given the opportunity to see what lies behind the veil. You will hear what you did not perceive before. Perhaps you will notice other people who you did not notice before. Perhaps you will hear a song somewhere that gives you exactly the answer you need at that moment. It could be anything, because the High Priestess helps you in many ways.

When you have found what you need, you will feel her. The power of the “Union” card. You will feel that you are part of something bigger. You will feel accompanied on your journey. You may receive support from someone you could not hear before. Just let it happen. Be open to the possibilities that pausing and listening reveal to you. Whatever comes your way today, be attentive. And when the time comes, be grateful.

You are welcome to linger here in the temple a little longer. The High Priestess knows no time. Enjoy your shared silence. Enjoy this first moment of being together. I will leave you now.
