Feeling emotions, setting boundaries, and the gift of the moment

Did you know that if you are friendly to the crows and ravens in your neighborhood, they will bring you gifts? I have seen several posts about this on social media, and you won’t believe it, but I have ordered a crow whistle. Maybe I’ll use it today and stand on the balcony with it to make Hector’s siblings my friends too. Somehow, it seems as if the raven on the card wants to put the coin in the chalice. Thank you very much for this gift.

The Ace of Cups is the beginning of the Arcana of Water. An overflowing chalice is handed to us from the clouds. As in the classic depictions, we see five waterfalls spilling over the edge. They represent our senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. We experience our feelings more intensely today, and perhaps we even feel something new. The raven brings to mind the phrase, “A penny for your thoughts.” For me, this means that something in the outside world, in the material world of coins, is giving us a sign.

Do you have anything specific planned for today? Are you meeting someone? I think we should let ourselves be surprised today. The Ace of Cups always represents a moment of great emotion. Sometimes it indicates a new friendship or even love. For couples, it is an intense day that can be experienced with all the senses. I would even suggest a spontaneous date night for today. Enjoy your time together. Perhaps we will also be surprised by something or perceive a smell that digs up a memory from the depths of our soul. So if you find yourself a little more emotional today, blame it on me and the cards. I’ll gladly take the blame.

When I look at the scorpion on the “Defense” card, I also feel the warning of the Ace. It can also indicate a moment of great disappointment or emotional coldness. Especially when we feel the need to defend ourselves, we shut out our feelings. When an emotion triggers the fight-or-flight response, our body switches to rationality and emotionlessness. We react this way so that we can resolve the situation as quickly as possible for our own good. Even though none of us are likely to encounter a lion in the wild, our bodies can call on this response at any time.

Scorpions cause huge panic in some people. Of course, some are highly poisonous, but they are actually quite peaceful animals. Well, as long as you leave them alone. But who doesn’t feel that way? If someone gets too close to me and then gets on my nerves, they have to expect me to say something or attack them. You probably feel the same way. Especially when someone invades our personal space or hurts our feelings, we should defend ourselves. But defending ourselves doesn’t necessarily mean ramming a poisonous sting into their body.

But how can we defend ourselves when it comes to our feelings? Well, if you feel attacked, then speak up. Point it out to the other person. Make yourself heard. I know that we have forgotten how to do this over the decades. I am aware that we are supposed to just put up with it. But no, those days are over. We have a right to stand up for our feelings and our values. We are allowed to communicate this clearly. And no, we are not exaggerating! Anyone who says something like that to you can be deleted from your phone book right away. Blocking them is also a very good option, by the way.

If you feel that communication is not helping in a particular case, then give them the middle finger, turn around, and walk away. You don’t have to explain yourself. If the person is seriously interested in engaging with you, they will respond. If not, then that’s a nice quick end to it.

No matter how the Ace of Cups manifests itself for you today, I wish you a wonderful day. Enjoy it with all your senses. Be prepared for an emotional surprise and never forget that you have the right to defend yourself if someone denies you that.
