Why you can step out of the drama today

The end of a cycle. The 10 of each Minor Arcana represents a conclusion. In the case of swords, it means that a long period of suffering is coming to an end. In this depiction, the woman is lying on her back on the stones and thus has the opportunity to free herself from her suffering. In other depictions of this card, the person concerned is lying on their stomach with the swords in their back. Here we have a more optimistic representation of the theme. It is the possibility of freeing oneself. But something else strikes me about this card, or rather, it comes to mind today.

I already mentioned in another post that we really like to wallow in the bad situations we have experienced. Usually, a traffic jam on the way to work is enough to plunge us into the depths of self-pity. Of course, we communicate this at any time when asked how we are doing. Then there are those very special people. I’m sure you know at least one of them. These are the people who are always feeling bad. Every little mishap is blown up into a drama that justifies their absolute inability to recognize anything good. That may sound a bit drastic, but we only need to look at the comment sections on social media. Someone posts what happened to them. An accident, a burst pipe, or something broke, and immediately they swarm like moths around a light. “I had it much worse…”, “It happened to me twice…”, “Oh, that’s standard for me…”.

I also know these people from TikTok Live in my bubble. They hop from live to live or come back at regular intervals to ask the same question over and over again. But what do they do instead of taking the advice they receive to heart? They continue to complain and go around in circles. Incidentally, that’s also the reason why I stopped doing live streams. I want my work to help people who are willing to be helped. That’s the first step needed for help to work: we have to want it and be ready for it. But these suffering moths don’t want help, they want attention. They take up space and push aside those who want to be helped.

Today’s oracle card is “Equilibrium.” It tells us a story of the sea, how it comes and how it goes. The ebb and flow take away the old and bring us the new. It is exactly the same with difficult times. They come, we endure them and learn from them, and then they go, or rather, we have to let them go. Sometimes, however, we find ourselves clinging to our problems. Usually because we have become so accustomed to them and to the role they have given us. I am no exception. Last year, I liked to use my depression as an excuse for not having to do something. The real reason was different, but playing the illness card meant there was no contradiction. I had become accustomed to the flood of suffering and self-pity. It takes time to realize that our problem is just our problem. It is part of us, but it does not define us.

If you have an issue that has been bothering you for a long time, today is the day to let it go. Take the first step and embrace the sword in your chest. Feel the handle, its hardness. Feel how deep the pain goes. Think about how it came about, and with each thought, move it a little bit out of your chest. Always a little bit. Allow the pain to go. Allow yourself the opportunity to heal. Pulling it out is a process, and sometimes we can’t do it all at once. This process takes time and is usually painful. Let yourself be washed over by the waves of the “Equilibrium” card. Feel how the water helps you. It lets the pain slip away. With every movement, it helps you to free yourself. Slowly and in the flow. Trust the process. Let the water wash away everything that does not belong to you. Give it up and let go.
