At the center of the wheel – fate, purpose, and inner peace

The wheel turns. It runs incessantly, round after round. Always in motion. It never stops. Can you hear the wood rubbing quietly against each other? Can you hear the soft rustling of the thread, which slowly wraps itself around the wheel again and again and turns with it? On and on and on. The three veiled figures on the card are the goddesses of fate. The Greeks called them the Moirai, the Romans called them the Parcae, and in Norse mythology they are the Norns. Past, present, and future. One spins, one measures out the thread, one cuts it. Birth, life, death. It is likely that the energy for the threefold goddess was formed from these three goddesses at some point. Virgin, mother, crone. There is a lot of magic in this single card.

The goddesses of fate, as their name suggests, decide the fate of every human being. They regard each individual as part of the great fabric, allocate them a role, and when the time comes, they end it again. For them, there is no good or evil. They do not judge or take sides with anyone. If our thread is destined, we are born. Tasks are assigned, and once our pattern is complete, we die. Whether we have fulfilled the assigned task or not is then no longer important. The pattern remains incomplete, and the three goddesses must find someone else to fulfill it in the next cycle.

I think everyone has thought about the subject of fate at some point. Some believe in a pre-determined plan, a fixed concept. Others are convinced that they alone are responsible for their path and that no higher power has any influence on it. How do you feel about the question of fate?

Personally, I am not convinced that everything is predetermined. That would mean that fate has only suffering in store for some of us. Furthermore, this idea implies to me that how I live my life is meaningless. According to this concept, I would have no influence on my future. I don’t think any god with such responsibility would be so cruel and cold. However, I do believe that we are given a task or a theme to take care of in this human cycle. An experience that our soul is meant to have in this human life.

To find this task, I use tarot cards, as you might expect. With the help of the Major Arcana, i.e., the journey of the Fool, and the sum of the digits of the date of birth, the birth card can be calculated. It’s not rocket science, but it’s very effective. This card shows us what our task is. Perhaps even the biggest theme of our life. This theme needs to be clarified. However, we have to find the way there ourselves. Would you like to know what your birth card reveals about your task? Then feel free to use my Tarot Impulse. I have a little surprise for you at the end of the post.

No matter what we think about fate, sometimes our lives just feel like they’re being controlled by someone else. It feels like everything revolves around us and we’re going around in circles. Sometimes things go up and down so fast that we feel like we’re on a roller coaster. But since we can’t stop the wheel or make time stand still for a moment, we need another solution for moments like these.

A little exercise for centering

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Imagine you are standing on the big Wheel of Fortune. It is spinning, as expected. But you are standing right in the middle. You are not spinning. Because you are in the only place of calm in the eternal cycle. You are on the axis. Here you can take a deep breath and pause. You don’t have to turn with it right now. You can just be here. In peace. Time will continue to turn during this little break, but you are simply taking yourself out of it for this moment. Often, these little moments of conscious pause are enough. They allow us to come to ourselves. Use these moments when you step back to observe what is happening around you. Just observe, don’t think. Simply take it in without judging. As soon as you feel ready, take a step forward. Get off the axis and back on the wheel. Open your eyes and move on.

Isn’t it exciting that the “Wisdom” card accompanies us to the Wheel of Fortune? The octopus is one of the most intelligent animals on our planet. These creatures are capable of solving complicated puzzles, making their bodies completely invisible, and some can even communicate with humans. They are definitely clever and also somewhat mysterious. They teach us that there is a way and a solution for everything. There are ways to reach our goal, even if we may not know how at first. Use this ability today. When you do the centering exercise, see if you can see paths on the wheel that you can only perceive from the outside. It usually helps to take an observer’s position. Then we are no longer so self-centered, but can see the big picture.
