Why smart decisions are your foundation

Oh, welcome back to the island of Aiaia. We were here a week ago, visiting the powerful Circe. Were you not on board during our last visit? Click here to read the article. Circe was banished to the island of Aiaia because of an act that displeased the other gods. Personally, I can imagine worse things than being banished to a fertile island with mountains, forests, beaches, and even a ready-made house for me. I would even give up the internet. Well, not really, because then I wouldn’t be able to share my stories with you so easily.
Circe learned. She gathered knowledge about plants, about the influences of the environment and the cosmos, all with the goal of performing powerful magic. This path was certainly not easy, as she first had to find out where the plants grow, when the best harvest time is, how to prepare them, and what their effects are. Of course, she got her hands dirty in the process. She probably walked around the island for hours and it probably took her a lot of work to cultivate some of the plants in her garden. But she didn’t mind, because she knew what she wanted.
The Magician card is the first card after the Fool card. It reminds us that we create our own world. We are the ones who can already control how we perceive the world around us with our thoughts. But the card’s message is also very clear: gather your resources, gather knowledge, and learn the necessary skills.
Today, with the “Mindfulness” card, the Magician says something else: “Choose wisely.”
When working toward a goal, we often tend to accept the first option that comes along. We choose it because it is often the easiest option, as we don’t have to weigh up the pros and cons. It is crystal clear that this has consequences for our goal. I would like to explain this to you using my own work here on my website as an example. When setting up my own business and this website, I said from the outset that I would pursue a no- or low-investment approach. This means that I work with free versions as much as possible. The concept is that I only invest the money that I receive through bookings, shop purchases, or tips.
The most important rule of this concept: Services are selected based on user-friendliness. Why? Because nothing blocks me more than complicated tools or cumbersome processes. I usually write without a schedule. Sometimes I write my posts in the morning in the kitchen, sometimes in the evening at my desk, sometimes on the go, sometimes in the middle of the night on the couch. I do this according to my intuition for the individual card combinations. There’s nothing more annoying than having to deal with formatting in the middle of the night. That kind of thing ruins my mood. So the decision to use WordPress was quickly made, the design was chosen, and I was ready to go.
Now I’ve decided on my own domain. Of course, I made sure that it could be managed with WordPress. However, what I didn’t consider from the outset, because I couldn’t think of it, was: Do I have the same version of WordPress with all the features everywhere? I keep thinking that I could have been more careful about this. After the move, I realized that the design was no longer available, so I had to get a new one. Then there were features that simply weren’t activated yet. I had to install plug-ins and add-ons to make sure everything worked exactly as it did before. It was a tedious process, but I’m happy with the result. How do you like the website? How do you find the user-friendliness? Feel free to write your comments.
You see, things like this can happen again and again, but we have to get through them. Despite all the hassle, we must not lose sight of our goal and must continue with our chosen resources. Then there was always the issue of payment acceptance. I wanted to make this as straightforward as possible for you and me. Did I succeed? Partially. I still have to send payment instructions for appointment bookings manually by email. This requires a premium subscription for the booking system, which I am currently unable to invest in. As you can see, I am willing to accept more effort in order to save costs. In return, I remain true to myself and my concept, and that alone compensates for the extra effort.
It is this combination of resource management (German Ressourcenverwaltung), mindfulness (German Achtsamkeit), work (German Arbeit), and acceptance (German Akzeptanz) that comes across today. (I think we should establish this as an abbreviation in German: R-A-A-A. It sounds like I’m shouting because a small thing that I could easily pay for isn’t working.) Today, it’s really about looking at what your resources are. What are you willing to invest? What do you value? For me, it’s user-friendliness. What is it for you? What do you look for when choosing your resources? Take your time and think about it. Keep your goal or desired outcome in mind and then answer these questions for yourself. It will take some time, but it’s worth it. By clarifying this, you will save yourself future frustration and can take each step along the way with much more mindfulness and gratitude, because it is the path you have chosen.
