Thurisaz – dein Blitzableiter // Thurisaz – your lightning rod

Thurisaz symbolisiert den Dorn des Weißdorns. Seit jeher heißt es, dass diese Pflanze den Blitz davon abhält, ins Haus einzuschlagen – sie schützt, bevor Gefahr überhaupt eindringen kann.

Auf der Karte sehen wir einen Ritter, der in voller Rüstung einen Weißdornzweig vor sein Gesicht hält. Trotz aller Panzerung sucht er Schutz in der natürlichen Magie dieser Pflanze.

Thurisaz ist meine persönliche Lieblingsrune, wenn es um Schutz geht. Viele nutzen Algiz, doch für mich bringt Thurisaz eine tiefere, lebendigere Symbolik mit sich.

Stell dir deinen inneren Garten vor – du darfst ihn gestalten, wie du willst. Nur eines ist gesetzt: Eine weiß blühende Hecke aus Weißdorn umgibt ihn. Sie beschützt dich.

Thurisaz ist keine glatte Lichtblase, kein kalter Steinwall. Thurisaz lebt. Und wenn es sein muss, schlägt sie zurück. Ihre Dornen ritzen Haut und zerfetzen Gewänder – eine klare, natürliche Grenze gegen das, was dir nicht gut tut.

🌀 Deine Übung für heute:

Nimm ein kleines Blatt Papier. Zeichne die Rune Thurisaz darauf und falte es dreimal von dir weg.

Mit jedem Falten stell dir vor, wie Weißdornbüsche um dich herum wachsen. Sie bilden deinen Schutzwall – und du bist geborgen.

Steck den Zettel in deine Handyhülle oder in deine Tasche. Trag ihn bei dir. Spür das Gefühl von Sicherheit.

Du bist geschützt, nicht isoliert. Der Wind kann durch die Hecke wehen, und auch das Gute findet seinen Weg zu dir.

Doch erinnere dich auch an den Duft des Weißdorns – süß und faulig zugleich. Eine Erinnerung daran, dass jeder Schutz auch Grenzen setzt.

Nicht jeder wird das mögen. Manche werden dich nicht mehr erreichen, andere werden dich weniger verstehen.

Doch das ist der Preis gesunder Abgrenzung. Und er ist es wert.

Thurisaz symbolises the thorn of the hawthorn. It has always been said that this plant prevents lightning from striking the house – it protects before danger can even enter.

Thurisaz is my personal favourite rune when it comes to protection. Many use Algiz, but for me Thurisaz brings a deeper, more vivid symbolism.

Imagine your inner garden – you can organise it however you like. Only one thing is set: a white hedge of hawthorn surrounds it. It protects you.

Thurisaz is not a smooth bubble of light, not a cold stone wall. Thurisaz is alive. And if it has to, it strikes back. Her thorns carve skin and shred clothes – a clear, natural boundary against what is not good for you.

🌀 Your exercise for today:

Take a small sheet of paper. Draw the rune Thurisaz on it and fold it away from you three times.

With each fold, imagine hawthorn bushes growing around you. They form your protective wall – and you are safe.

Put the note in your mobile phone case or in your pocket. Carry it with you. Feel the sense of security.

You are protected, not isolated. The wind can blow through the hedge and good things will find their way to you.

But also remember the scent of hawthorn – sweet and foul at the same time. A reminder that every protection also sets limits.

Not everyone will like that. Some will no longer be able to reach you, others will understand you less.

But that is the price of healthy boundaries. And it’s worth it.
